Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Our products are designed and manufactured in the UK for safe tender operations on motor yachts and superyachts. Below are answers to the most common questions from yacht crew, service teams and owners.
Jetskis
Which sling kit is suitable for my jetski?
Rapid Marine Jetski Lifting Sling Kits are designed to fit specific Sea-Doo and Yamaha models using fixed stainless brackets to provide a safe, secure and balanced lift.
Use our ‘Jetski Lifting Sling Guide’ to find the correct kit for your jetski brand, model and year.
I already have your kit but just need to replace my sling, is that possible?
Yes. Slings should be routinely checked for wear and tear as part of safe tender operations. If your sling is damaged or shows signs of deterioration, you can purchase a replacement sling while keeping your existing brackets, if they remain in good condition.
How do I get my Declaration of Conformity certificate?
Head to the ‘Register’ button at the top right of our website to register your sling and generate your certificate. You will need the Sling Number and Part Number to hand which are provided with the kit.
How do I install my Rapid Marine Jetski Kit?
We’ve created a step by step installation guide which can be found here.
We also recommend watching our User Guide on YouTube before use to ensure correct installation and prevent damage to your sling, brackets or jetskis.
Chocks
How do I know which Chock to support my tender or jetski?
We have a choice of profile chocks for Williams Jet Tenders and Seadoo Sparks. However, we recommend our Universal Chocks for 99% of tenders and jetskis as they have the flexibility to adjust to different hull shapes.
Will Universal Chocks damage the hull or gelcoat of my tender?
No, Rapid Marine Universal Chocks are designed to provide strong grip and stable support while protecting hull surfaces.
Our Universal Chocks use thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), a durable non-marking material, engineered to minimise scuffing, pressure points and stress marks.
How many chocks do I need for safe tender storage and transport?
This depends on your tender length and weight. Our Universal Chocks are load test up to 1000kg and can support many tenders safely using two chocks. However, heavier or longer tenders often benefit from additional support points to reduce movement and prevent hull flex. For maximum security, we recommend using chocks alongside our Padeyes and Tie-Down Kits.
Padeyes
Are padeyes better than eyebolts?
For most yacht applications, yes. Rapid Marine Padeyes offer a sleek, low-profile alternative to traditional eyebolts. Eyebolts often protrude above the deck and can create trip hazards, especially in busy tender operations. Padeyes provide a safer, cleaner solution without compromising strength.
What does SWL mean and why is it important when choosing padeyes?
SWL stands for Safe Working Load, the maximum load the padeye is rated to hold safely during normal use.
Choosing the correct SWL is essential for crew safety and protecting tenders and equipment onboard. Rapid Marine Padeyes are load tested to 750 kg per padeye. For lighter tenders, three padeyes may be sufficient, but four is often recommended to improve stability and future proof your setup.
Are Rapid Marine padeyes suitable for marine environments and long-term exposure?
Yes. Rapid Marine padeyes are engineered specifically for marine conditions with 316 stainless steel and a robust low profile or flush design. This makes them suitable for long term use on deck, swim platforms, and within yacht garages, where salt and water require hardware that won’t compromise over time.
Tie Down Kits
What is the difference between bow & stern and over straps?
Bow and stern secures the tender from the front and rear using 3 or 4 attachment points depending on the size and weight of your tender. Over straps going over the tubes on the tender using two long ratchets.
What’s the difference between a tie-down kit and buying straps separately?
A tie-down kit ensures you have a complete, compatible securing setup with correctly matched components. If your deck doesn’t have a deck fittings, then you might choose to buy a full kit whereas you may have our padeyes or traditional eyebolts therefore only require the straps.
