Award Recognised Innovation
The DAME awards are an annual prestigious competition within the marine industry, which are held in Amsterdam during the Metstrade Show. The entries are judged on design, function, innovation and sustainability with the goal to promote the best designed products in the leisure marine equipment sector. Entries come from all over the world and from a vast number of brands, from well established brands to small businesses.
Rapid Marine have taken the leap to enter two of their products over the years and have been proud to have been recognised by the awards both times.
Relief for boat owners: Padeyes
In 2015, Rapid Marine proudly entered the DAME award with the Flush Fitting Padeye. This was the beginning of what is now a complete range of fitting types. Designed to address the longstanding frustration of boat owners constantly stubbing their toes on traditional eyebolts, the Flush Fitting Padeye offered a practical solution that prioritised both safety and comfort on board.
Mike’s idea was to make the attachment point removable with ease and leaving a clean, hazard free deck, therefore came the Flush Fitting deck plate and the Padeye key. The system worked on a push-turn-release function meaning that once the tender or jetski has been lowered into the water, the attachment straps can be packed away leaving a sleek deck for owners to use.
By 2025, we had sold 10,000 padeyes – a huge achievement which we are proud of.
Off the shelf solution to an age old issue: Universal Chocks
In 2021, Rapid Marine’s Universal Chock was proudly submitted for consideration in the esteemed DAME Award. This innovative, self-adjusting design ensures that, even if boat owners decide to upgrade or switch their tender or jetski in the future, the Universal Chocks will continue to offer reliable support without the need for replacement. Purposefully created to be the last set of chocks an owner will ever require, each element of the Universal Chock is meticulously designed and manufactured for durability, functionality, and contemporary aesthetics.
The Universal Chocks also received a ‘special mention’ from the judges commenting that ‘deck hardware to stow your tender or jetski gets a complete makeover with these Universal Chocks.’ The awards were particularly important for Rapid Marine as a business coming out of the pandemic, receiving this recognition kickstarted the success of the product.
